Photovoice: Stories from Đông Thắng Villagers

This past year, WARECOD gave villagers cameras and guidance on how they could share their stories through their own photographs and voices. Here are the stories of some of those villagers of Đông Thắng, Co Do district, Viet Nam.

This concept of villagers telling their own stories, called photovoice, is being used as a means to better represent and empower communities across the world. WARECOD is combining this tactic with their Thaibaan (local knowledge) research, as a part of the their project on understanding the Mekong Delta river food system through the perspectives of local people.

WARECOD is the Center for Water Resources Conservation and Development. Please contact Dr. Nga Dao ( for more information on this project.
