Aquaculture in the Mekong Delta

How will hydropower development impact Vietnam’s USD2bn/year aquaculture business? Raising catfish in ponds is something the Delta has done for centuries but these days, it’s a big export business, involving close to 200,000 workers, predominantly the rural poor. Mr. Nguyen Van Dao, general director of Godaco, one of Vietnam’s largest seafood exporters, talks about his concerns for the industry.
